Privacy
Last updated 24 September 2026.
The short version. Progression has no account and no server. Your training is written to your own device and stays there. Nothing is collected, nothing is sold, and there are no analytics, adverts or trackers of any kind. The one thing that leaves your phone is spoken logging, and only while you are holding the microphone button.
What is stored, and where
Everything the app knows about you — your programme, every set you have logged, your bodyweight, any injury you have told it about, your measurements and your progress photos — is stored in your browser's own storage on the device you are using. It is not uploaded anywhere, because there is nowhere to upload it to. This site is a static page and an engine that runs on your phone.
That has a consequence worth stating plainly: if you clear your browser's data, uninstall the app or lose the device, that training is gone. The app can write your whole history to a file, and read one back on a new phone. That file is your backup, and it is the only one.
Voice, which is the exception
If you log a set by speaking, your browser sends that audio to its own speech recognition service — Apple's on an iPhone, Google's on Android or Chrome — to turn it into words. That is the browser's feature, not ours: we never receive the audio and cannot see what you said. The app says this at the microphone rather than only here, and you never have to use it. Typing works everywhere.
Photos
Progress photos are kept in a separate store on the device, deliberately, so that no export can reach them by accident. They are never included in a backup file and never leave the phone. Deleting them in Settings deletes them.
What we do not do
- No account, no email address, no password.
- No analytics, no cookies, no advertising, no third-party scripts.
- Nothing is sold or shared with anybody, because nothing is collected.
- No payment. The app is free, and takes no card details.
Hosting
The site is served by Netlify, which like any web host records ordinary request logs — an IP address, a page, a timestamp — when your browser fetches the page or the app. We do not use those logs for analytics and they contain none of your training. Once the app is on your home screen it opens with no network request at all.
Children
This is not aimed at children under 13, and collects nothing from anybody of any age.
Changes
If this ever changes — most likely because the app grows an optional account for syncing between devices — this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. Anything of that kind would be opt-in, and the local-first version would keep working untouched.
Asking about any of this
Write to hello@goldstandardweb.com. There is no data of yours for us to look up, correct or delete — it is on your phone, and Settings has a button that erases all of it — but questions are welcome.
Not medical advice
Progression writes training programmes. It is not medical advice and cannot tell the difference between a hard set and an injury. That judgement stays with you, and with a doctor or physiotherapist when it needs to.
